Home for each family is really one of the biggest challenge in India. But, our responsible Government took this challenge as a responsibility and launched the scheme ‘Housing for all’. ‘Housing for all’ scheme is also known as the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. In the first phase of this scheme’s implementation, the state government has selected two cities from the district, Ichalkaranji and Kolhapur.
Slum rehabilitation programme officials said, “The scheme has some predefined criteria and structure and people who better eligible in this criteria can get the benefits of this scheme. Broadly, this scheme is divided into four different sections and depends on the mode of project movement, the economic condition of the working people, loan-based housing and individual houses at cost affordable rates. People who adequately fulfill the basic criteria and needs of the scheme can contact with programme officers at all divisional ward offices and apply the forms till 20th April 2016.”
The Centre has separated the list of beneficiaries based on their annual income levels. Most of the housing projects will be carried out through a public-private partnership (PPP) to manage financial burdens on civic bodies. “The beneficiary should not have an annual income more than Rs 6 lakh, otherwise they are not able to get the benefits of this housing scheme.
Since the civic body has already experienced of drafting proposals for slum rehabilitation projects under the earlier scheme of Rajiv Gandhi Awas Yojana, they again get the responsibility to arrange a socio-economic survey while finalizing the eligible beneficiary. In the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the beneficiary has need to share a meagre amount of the final cost of the house to book a housing unit measuring 330-500 square meters. Additionally, there is a great provision of sanction a loan amount up to Rs 6 lakh with minimum interest rates, especially for economically weaker sections of the urban people.
